Mini

(Ages 2.5-4)

Combo: This is a 45 minute class that introduces ballet and tap to preschoolers.  This class is designed to teach students basic dance vocabulary while using creativity through movement.  No previous dance experience is needed.  Mini Combo will perform both ballet and tap dances at Motivate’s recital.

Hip Hop: This 30 minute class is a great way to get your kids moving.  This style is performed with upbeat music and high energy.  If your child is interested in trying out dance for the first time and wants a less formal atmosphere, this is the class you’re looking for! No previous dance experience needed.  Mini Hip Hop will perform one dance at Motivate’s recital.


Mini/Kinder

(Ages 2.5-6)

Acro: Mini/Kinder Acro introduces Acro-Dance to dancers 2.5-6. Acro combines techniques used in both dance and acrobatics.  Flexibility, contortion, balance, and tumbling skills are all incorporated into the structure of this dance class. Mini/Kinder Acro will perform one routine in Motivate's recital.


Kinder

(Ages 4-6)

Level 1-2

(Ages 6-10)

Combo: This is a 60 minute beginning-intermediate ballet and jazz class for 1st-5th graders.  This class continues and extends ballet terminology and introduces jazz technique.  Students who take this class will learn two contrasting styles to become a more versatile dancer.  Ballet enforces classical etiquette and grace while jazz involves sharp movements danced to popular music. No previous dance experience is needed.  Level 1 Combo will perform a ballet dance and a jazz dance at Motivate’s recital.

Lyrical: This 30 minute class introduces lyrical technique to 1st-5th graders.  Lyrical combines ballet technique with popular music.  Lyrical is often described as a style that is performed to the lyrics of the music and has a soft, flowy quality.  This class is a great way to learn how to express emotions through dance.  No previous dance experience is needed, however it is recommended to also take Combo 1 so students can further their understanding of the techniques used in this style.  Lyrical 1-2 will perform one dance at Motivate’s recital.

Tap: This 30 minute class is the next step from tap taken in Kinder Combo.  Tap teaches students musicality and rhythm by learning to create a sequence of sounds with their own feet.  No previous dance experience is needed, however we recommend that this class is taken along with other classes to enhance students’ musicality skills in all dance styles. Tap 1-2 will perform one dance at Motivate’s recital.

Acro: Acro 1-2 is the next step from Mini/Kinder Acro and is for dancers 6-10. Acro combines techniques used in both dance and acrobatics.  Flexibility, contortion, balance, and tumbling skills are all incorporated into the structure of this dance class. Acro 1-2 will perform one routine in Motivate's recital.


Level 2-3

(Ages 8-12)

Ballet: This is a 60 minute class that continues ballet technique learned in Combo 1-2.  In addition to etiquette and vocabulary learned in Combo 1-2, this intermediate level class begins to teach students to focus on their body alignment, turnout, musicality, and quality of movement.  No previous dance experience is required, however this class will move at a faster pace as it is assumed that dancers already know basic ballet terminology.  Ballet 2-3 will perform one dance at Motivate’s recital.

Lyrical: This 30 minute class continues lyrical technique for 3rd-7th graders.  Lyrical combines ballet technique with popular music.  Lyrical is often described as a style that is performed to the lyrics of the music and has a soft, flowy quality.  This class focuses on combining ballet and jazz technique, movement quality, and expressing emotions.  No previous dance experience is needed, however it is recommended to also take Ballet 2-3 and Jazz 2-3 so students can further their understanding of the techniques used in this style.  Lyrical 2-3 will perform one dance at Motivate’s recital.

Jazz: This is a 30 minute class that continues jazz technique learned in Combo 1.  Jazz is a fast-paced dance style that is performed to popular music.  This class focuses on technique, coordinating sharp and strong movements, and using facial expressions.  No previous dance experience is needed, however it is recommended to also take Ballet 2-3 to increase technical ability.  Jazz 2-3 will perform one dance at Motivate’s recital.

Pointe: This is a 45 minute class that continues ballet technique.  Dancers must receive permission from their ballet instructor before participating in Pointe.  Pointe requires strength, proper knowledge of ballet terminology, and correct execution of ballet movement.  Pointe will perform one dance at Motivate's recital.

Acro: Acro 2-4 is the next step from Acro 1-2 and is for dancers 10-18. Acro combines techniques used in both dance and acrobatics.  Flexibility, contortion, balance, and tumbling skills are all incorporated into the structure of this dance class. Acro 2-4 will perform one routine in Motivate's recital.


Technique

(Ages 6 -18)

This class is designed to continue techniques of different dance styles throughout the entire year, without the pressure of learning a recital routine.  Dancers will work on improving skills that are taught in other classes, as well as improvisation and performance techniques.  Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical styles will be heavily focused on in this class.  This class is required for all Performance Team members, and is also available to anyone ages 6-10 (Junior) and 10-18 (Senior) that wants additional dance training.  Technique classes will not perform a dance in Motivate's recital.

 
 

 
 

Ballet: This 6-week session is a 45 minute/week ballet class for Adults (18+).  It runs from Monday, April 9, thru Monday, May 14. This class is designed for anyone interested in learning the basic technique and terminology associated with ballet.  Ballet is not only a beautiful art form, but it can also improve posture, stability, flexibility, coordination, and strength. There will be no recital for this session, and no experience is necessary.

Tap: This 6-week session is a 45 minute/week tap class for Adults (18+).  It runs from Monday, April 9, thru Monday, May 14. This class is designed for anyone interested in learning the basic technique and terminology associated with tap.  Tap is not only an entertaining dance style, but it can also improve rhythm, stability, stamina, coordination, and musicality. There will be no recital for this session, and no experience is necessary.

Hip Hop: This 6-week session is a 45 minute/week Hip Hop class for Adults (18+).  It runs from Thursday, April 12, thru Thursday, May 17. This class is designed for anyone interested in learning basic Hip Hop steps and getting active.  Hip Hop is a fun and upbeat dance style, and it can also improve rhythm, stamina, coordination, and musicality. There will be no recital for this session, and no experience is necessary.

Adult
