STEFANIE MUNRO

INSTRUCTOR

Stefanie Munro grew up in Bourbonnais, Illinois where she began dancing at the age of 3 at the local dance studio, Paula Aubrey School of Dance. She continued to dance at this studio until she graduated from high school. Throughout her time there, she took classes for ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and modern. She spent summer weekends at dance conventions, and was chosen to be in the Kankakee Kompany for three years. She also had a solo in the Nutcracker as a Doll on pointe her senior year. Also during high school, Stefanie danced for her high school poms squad; winning three first place state titles in the hip-hop category, and was chosen as MVP her senior year.

Stefanie went on to college and danced for the St. Ambrose University Dance Team. She danced for all four years, competing at Nationals and winning a first place National Championship, and a runner up national championship in the team dance category (jazz, poms, and hip-hop). She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2013.  She then went on to earn her Associates in Occupational Therapy Assistant and worked as an OTA at a pediatric outpatient clinic in Bettendorf, Iowa, before moving to Ankeny in 2017.

Throughout her dancing career, Stefanie has always been inspired by the life lessons you can learn from dance.  To dance is so much more than learning 8 counts and pointing your toes. It teaches you about passion, teamwork, dedication, and confidence. Stefanie strives to be able to foster these values in young dancers, and to be a positive role model in their lives; just as the dance teachers and coaches were for her growing up in the dance world. She is so excited to share her love of dance with the Motivate dancers!
